Position Overview:
At Basler Inc., the Application Engineer plays a crucial role in the successful design and deployment of our advanced vision systems. This role requires a technical problem-solver capable of seamless collaboration with various teams to enhance our engineering capabilities. The successful candidate will prioritize understanding customer needs to deliver exceptional value. This includes providing comprehensive pre-sales support, ongoing technical assistance, and post-sales support to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Core Responsibilities

  • Employ a customer-centric approach to problem solving, ensuring that solutions are designed with the customer’s best interests in mind.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales Team to identify customer technical needs during the pre-sales process and provide technical consultancy to internal and external stake holders selecting Basler products for customer-specific use cases.
  • Analyze and develop customer code samples to provide debugging snippets and technical direction.
  • Capture, prioritize, and address customer requirements efficiently, taking ownership and ensuring follow-through to solution.
  • Function as the primary technical point of contact for customer inquiries and feedback.
  • Test products returned through the Basler RMA (Return Material Authorization) process, providing analysis and feedback.
  • Conduct technical training and demonstrations to internal and external stakeholders on Basler’s innovative, upcoming, and newly released product portfolio.
  • Represent Basler at tradeshows and conferences, providing technical knowledge and insights.
  • Deliver ongoing technical support and guidance to customers after the sale (post-sales.)
  • Troubleshoot customer problems via phone, email, and remote-access tools, ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Escalate customer requests as needed and collaborate with colleagues locally and internationally on resolutions.
  • Participate in regular conference calls with other Basler teams, sharing insights and strategies.
  • Track and report on key metrics as required to ensure continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Compliance with all Basler company guidelines and policies.

Qualifications

Experience and Educational Background:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 0-5 years of relevant experience.
 
Technical Expertise:
  • Programming skills in C++, C#, and .NET (proficiency in Python also acceptable).
  • Understanding of electronics concepts and familiarity with circuit analysis and components.
  • Project related experience with computer vision (CV), machine vision, embedded systems, and machine learning (AI/ML) is preferred.
  • Experience with 2D, Line Scan or, 3D cameras is preferred.
  • Knowledge or hands on experience with GigE, USB, CameraLink, CoaXPress cameras, FPGAs, GPUs, lenses, optics, machine vision components, and vision solutions is a plus.
  • Familiarity with project management (PMP) and lean manufacturing (Six Sigma) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in using Windows operating systems (Linux and MacOS is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to learn recent technologies and continuously enhance skillsets.

  • Familiarity with business-to-business sales processes and concepts.
  • Effective communication and representation of Basler in a professional and positive manner.
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to contribute to the overall success of Basler.

Travel Requirements:
  • This role offers a hybrid working environment, combining office-based and remote work.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Total overnight travel estimated up to 25%.
