Position Overview
At Basler Inc., the Application Engineer plays a crucial role in the successful design and deployment of advanced vision systems. This role requires a technical problem-solver capable of seamless collaboration with various teams to enhance our engineering capabilities. The successful candidate will prioritize understanding customer needs to deliver exceptional value. This includes providing comprehensive pre-sales consultancy, and post-sales support to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Responsibilities

  • During pre-sales communications, work alongside Sales Managers to provide guidance and technical background to steer the customer towards selecting the best technical fit of hardware and software for their given application.
  • Provide consultation for opportunities where a high degree of machine vision integration is required, function as primary technical point of contact, driving the technical advancement in these short to mid length projects.
  • Work with cross functional teams from Sales, Customizations, Marketing, and R&D in the plan and execution of unique customer requests.
  • Support existing customers in technical troubleshooting managed on a case-by-case basis. Utilizing tools like Salesforce, email, phone, MS Teams and other management software.
  • Design in-lab testing of customer applications to determine feasibility, providing images and detailed explication on how to replicate results.
  • Utilize Basler’s internal code base to edit and coach customers on how to integrate our products into their systems.
  • Work alongside marketing team to build and maintain product demos shown at tradeshows and training events.
  • RMA(return material authorization): Support Back Office in RMA process by evaluate requests for RMAs, determine if the products need to be brought back in for physical testing, once received determine if product is faulty as customer describes and document in SAP systems.
  • Travel: onsite to pre & post sales customer visits in addition to tradeshow coverage for technical expertise (see requirements section)

 

Requirements:

  • This role offers a hybrid working environment, combining in office and remote work.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Total overnight travel estimated up to 25%.

Qualifications

Experience and Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field with 1-5 years of relevant experience.

Technical Expertise:

  • Project based experience with computer vision (CV), machine vision, embedded systems, and machine learning (AI/ML) is preferred.
  • Understanding of electronics concepts and familiarity with circuit analysis and components.
  • Programming skills in C++, C#, or .NET (proficiency in Python also desirable).
  • Proficiency in using Windows operating systems (Linux and MacOS is a plus).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with 2D, Line Scan, or 3D cameras is preferred.
  • Knowledge or hands on experience with machine vision; including cameras (using GigE, USB, Camera Link, or CoaXPress interfaces), FPGAs, GPUs, lenses or optics is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn latest technologies and continuously enhance skillsets with relevant technology.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Ability to react quickly and independently to urgent customer needs.
  • Demonstrated experience with customer support with the ability to prioritize customer needs and deliver exceptional service.
  • Strong sense of ownership and commitment to seeing long-term projects through to resolution.
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to contribute to the overall success of Basler.
